Florida has become the third largest state in the US. The largest density of the State’s population is located in South Florida. An estimated 6.6 million unchurched people call South Florida home and West Palm Beach, FL, specifically ranks 11th on the list of most unchurched cities in America.

South Florida metropolitan area is the most populous metropolis in the Southeastern United States and eight most in the United States. The nations are coming to America and the front door for many is South Florida. The school district of Miami-Dade is the fourth largest in the nation, Broward County public school district is the sixth largest and the school district of Palm Beach ranking eleventh in the United States. Education is a clear priority as over a hundred Colleges and Universities call South Florida home.

Among people at least five years old living in South Florida in 2005, 52% spoke English at home while 48% spoke some other language at home. Of those speaking a language other than English at home, 78% spoke Spanish and 22% spoke some other language. South Florida is a very diverse community with much of the population coming from all over Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, and Asia.

In the South Florida area 96 percent of the population is lost or unchurched (NAMB). Florida now has nearly 3,000 Southern Baptist congregations. But its population has grown to more than 18.5 million people. Florida needs many more churches.
