Over the past 20 years or more, South Florida has become increasingly secular. Here in Palm Beach County, we have 1.4 million or so residents, the vast majority of whom are not connected to a church of any kind.

The cultural fruit of widespread disengagement from the gospel leads to things like this “prayer” offered at the Lake Worth City Council meeting.  Jimmy Scroggins, our lead pastor, tweeted this wry observation (click the image to view the video):

We should not be surprised to see this kind of mockery of religion generally, or the gospel specifically. This is the culture we are living in, and a sign of how far we’ve come.

It is also not the whole story.  While this smug atheist got the opportunity to do a snarky charade of a “prayer” at a city council meeting, the Family Church network, across seven campuses, baptized over 240 people this year as believers in the risen Lord Jesus!

God is in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself! He is alive and well, and moving powerfully in South Florida.  Please come join us! The need is great, and the weather is terrific!
