Have you ever accidentally super glued your fingers together? If you have, you probably know how hard it is to rip those fingers apart. Glue can be a pretty powerful adhesive. We’re usually using it to stick objects together so it isn’t intended to be temporary. When it comes to making people stick together, the best adhesive we can find is the gospel. The gospel is the glue that unites us – forever.

In our culture, it’s important that believers stick together. We’re facing enough opposition already – we certainly don’t need to oppose one another. The gospel helps us do this. We come from different backgrounds. We have different preferences and abilities. We’re all broken, sinful people. The gospel transcends all of these barriers and gives us a spirit of unity. At our campuses on any given Sunday, there might be a multimillionaire sitting next to someone on public assistance. They appear to be from two different worlds, yet they are one in Christ.

This Sunday we’re going to be looking at 1 Corinthians to see how the gospel acts as glue. The people to whom Paul wrote had a lot of differences. But Paul says that the message of the gospel is of “first importance.” The gospel comes before differences in race, income or education. Everything that divides us comes under the gospel that unites us. We’re stuck with each other – and that’s a good thing. We’re better together as we live on mission to take the gospel to the 1.4 million in Palm Beach County who need to hear that good news.

Join us to learn how to get glued by the gospel.
