A person needs mouth to mouth when it looks like they’re dead. When their chest isn’t rising and falling. When there’s no breath. Sometimes our relationships get to this place. The life is getting choked out of them, and they need to be revived.

This weekend we kick off a post-Easter series that we’re doing with about 20 churches in two South Florida counties. It’s called Mouth to Mouth—and no, we’re not going to train everyone in CPR—we’re going to talk about breathing life into our relationships.

We have all kinds of relationships. We are sons, daughters, dads, moms, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends and just plain friends. We are single, married, remarried, divorced and widowed. And all our relationships are at varying degrees of health. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to examine, diagnose and apply the treatments God prescribes to them.

This weekend we’re going to talk about how we can’t revive others until we’ve been revived. We’ll look at the story of a little girl who was sick and dying. Her father, a religious leader, came to find Jesus and ask Him to help his daughter. While Jesus was on his way, a servant came to tell him the daughter had died. Her chest wasn’t rising or falling and there was no breath. Jesus went to her anyway, took her hand and told her to get up – and she did! Jesus gave her life again.

Jesus still brings people back from the dead. When we repent and believe in Him, He gives us spiritual life. He breathes His life—His Spirit—into us and empowers us to love the way we were meant to love. We can’t have healthy, Godly relationships until Jesus does this miracle in our lives. The Bible says that when we believe in Jesus, God supernaturally replaces our hearts of stone with hearts of flesh. He moves us from the inside out to live and love like Him, and His love never fails.

If your life and your relationships need reviving, you won’t want to miss this series.
